Pre-Moving Guide
As an Atlanta Mover we want to be able to offer our clients the best experience possible. So, we created this moving guide to help you with you move. Here you will get great ideas to make moving easier for you and for your moving company.
- Donate/sell anything you do not want the moving company to ship. Have a garage sale or donate unwanted things to charity. (moves are calculated by weight and distance, or time)
- Collect/return goods that have been borrowed by/from neighbors.
- Check with your new town hall concerning local laws for moving permits, pet licenses, vaccinations, recycling, etc.
- Find good homes for plants that you are not bringing with you.
- Ask your doctors to recommend doctors in you new area.
- Transfer medical, school and other vital records.
- Open new bank accounts and set a date for the reactivation of utilities. Give the moving company your cell phone number, your new home number and/or your email address.
- Make arrangements for the shipping of pets. Check to see that your pet is in good condition before the move. Update all vaccinations that your new municipality requires. Transfer your pet’s records. For help moving your pet go to www.airanimal.com
- Make sure your car is in good working order (checked by a mechanic) before starting on your trip. This will allow adequate time to find a mechanic who comes recommended.
- Use, discard, donate or prepare to take with you, all the goods that the moving company will NOT be shipping. Including:
Acids
Ammunition
Building Supplies
Cleaning Fluids
Fire Extinguisher
Firewood
Jewlery
Fireworks
Flammable ItemsFood / Liquors (opened)
Matches
Paints
Pets
Propane Tanks
Valuables: Collections / Deed / Documents: household bills, money, stock/bonds, tax records, research papers
Watercraft in excess of 30 feet - Have a party before your move date to say good-bye to all of your friends. This is particularly beneficial for children.
